Selling Poetry on E-Bay

The word of the day is doggerel (trivial, awkwardly written verse)

Grandpa Jensen always starts the day
Writing doggerel in a very trite way.
He writes of hippos, giraffes, and dogs,
Eels, elves, elk, foxes, and pollywogs,
And futilely tries to sell them on E-Bay.

19th Century Album

A unique new word is albumblatt (A short, light instrumental piano piece from the 19th century)

There as I sat at my grand piano
Playing sharps and some flats,
A pesky pint-sized gnat
Buzzed around my hat.
When I'd had enough of that,
Using my left hand I went splat!
With the other I played for my cat
A simple right-handed albumblatt.

Don't Geck the Speck

A new word is geck (to mock)

When Horton found the speck
All Whoville started to geck.
The pachyderm was a nervous wreck
But finally trumpeted, "what the heck,
That Seuss guy is really high tech,
So it's up to me to protect the fleck".

A Curch at Church

A new word. curch (a kerchief)

Next Sunday when you perch
On your pew made of birch
At the neighborhood church,
Be sure to join the search
For a lost polka dot curch
Left by good Sister Gurch

Have you heard the News?

A new word for you is schmooze (to gossip)

When you spread hurtful news
That is skewered with false views
Remember it's not nice to schmooze.
It always causes a lot of boo-hoos
When other reputations you bruise,
And you end up singing "the blues."

Prunes R Us

A new word is peckish (a little hungry)

If you feel a bit peckish at noon
And swallow a big pitted prune.
Your stomach will bloat
You will sing a sour note
And end up howling at the moon.

Lumgosi Loses It

The word ataxy (loss of muscular co-ordination)

This is a most peculiar fact,
Lumgosi had a high wire act.
He took a fast taxi
And suffered ataxy
His circus boss, without tact,
Said "that's it, you're sacked,
Don't ever try to come back,
Or Lumgosi you'll be whacked."
